Turn your passion for sport into a profession with the NCFE Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport and Physical Activity (Sports Coaching) at Reading College. This hands-on course builds the skills, knowledge and confidence you need to progress into coaching, fitness, sport development or university study. You’ll explore coaching principles, fitness training, sports psychology and performance, while gaining real-world experience in a supportive, industry-focused environment. Guided by experienced tutors and strong employer links, you’ll be on track to shape active, healthy communities and a successful future in sport.

Once your core subjects have been completed, you will then have the opportunity to complete untils from the list below. Not all subjects will be covered, as this will be tailored to the cohort.
How you'll learn and be assessed
Lessons will be based in Reading with occasional visits to Bracknell and local sports parks.
You will study through a mixture of theory and practical lessons. This extended diploma includes work experience, functional skills tutorials, and additional qualifications, including Level 2 Treatment and Management of Injuries, First Aid for Sport, and Sports Massage.
Residential visits and day trips are also available at an additional cost.
You will be assessed continuously throughout the programme and given ongoing feedback to support you through the course. Your assessments will be written, practical and verbal, and give you every opportunity to achieve the maximum grade available. Some of the additional qualifications are assessed through both theory and practical examinations.
Entry requirements
You need to have 4 GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including maths and English language, or a relevant level 2 Diploma.
