This programme is ideal for learners who aspire to develop their football ability and skills, whilst also learning about professional conduct and behaviour and the expectations and attributes of a professional athlete.
The core units are:
- Being organised
- Developing a personal progression plan
- Working with others
- Researching a topic
Plus 6 optional units:
- How exercise affects the body
- Playing sport
- Training for fitness
- Keeping active and healthy
- Contribute to running a sports event
- Coaching skills in sport
You will also work towards achieving GCSE maths and English.
What you'll learn
This qualification consists of credits. You will study four core units and six optional units. The range of optional units will enable you to focus on a particular strand of learning and interest whilst the mandatory units provide a good introduction to support progress into the workplace or further study.
All units are graded to encourage skills development and performance. You will have a work experience placement with Reading Football Club. The work experience element is key to providing opportunities to enthuse you and allow you to experience working in a community role within a professional sport club or sport and leisure industry environment.
At the end of the qualification you will gain the BTEC Level 1 Diploma in Sport.
How you'll learn and be assessed
At the end of the year you will achieve a BTEC L1 Diploma in Sport.
You will improve your footballing skills and ability, professional standards and personal attributes, fitness and ability.
Progression
NCFE L2 in Sport with the Football pathway.
Entry requirements
You will need a minimum GCSE grade 2 in English and maths.
Additional information
This is a full time programme where you will be required to attend 5 days a week.
