Activate Learning’s Reading College and University Centre students celebrate A Level success

Reading College and University Centre celebrates a 93% pass rate on A Level Results Day today.

The college’s chemistry department maintained a 100% pass rate for the third year in a row, 8% up from last year’s national average. Religious studies students also had a 100% pass rate for the third year running, 3% above the national average.

Other notable subject areas that achieved a 100% pass included:

  • Art and design, 1% higher than last year’s national average.
  • Government and politics, 5% higher than last year’s national average.
  • Mathematics, 3% higher than last year’s national average.

Seven of the 15 A Level subjects at Reading College and University Centre secured 100% pass rates.

Hannah O’Neill, Group Director of Academic Studies Faculty at Activate Learning, said: “We are incredibly proud of each and every one of our A Level students at Activate Learning. Today is a celebration of their hard work, dedication and resilience, and we share in their achievements with great joy.

“Many of our learners have overcome personal and educational challenges on their journeys, and their results are only part of their stories.

“Our staff will be on hand throughout Results Day to support students with their next steps if required, offering advice and guidance on the clearing process and helping them to explore the many opportunities that lie ahead. We wish all of our learners every success for their futures.

“I would also like to thank the incredible team of teachers, managers and other colleagues who work tirelessly to support learners.”

Diogo Da Silva Santos achieved a grade B in Chemistry, a grade B in Physics and a grade C in Biology. He will now take up an offer to study Medicine at the University of Southampton.

Diogo said: “At Reading College, I worked incredibly hard to build my English from scratch in order to reach the grades I needed for my dream career of becoming a doctor.

“From the very beginning, I was supported by teachers who believed in me, and their guidance played a crucial role in my success.”

Gennaro Lipp was also one of the college’s top achievers, achieving an A* in Art and Design and a grade D in Psychology. He will now take up an offer to study Art and Psychology at Reading University.

Gennaro said: “During my time at College I learnt how to bounce back from setbacks and harness my strengths. My grades are better than I expected, so I’m really pleased.”

Tyler Soutter achieved a Merit in Applied Law, a C in Business and a D in Politics and is now going on to study Law at the University of Winchester.

Tyler said: “I’m very pleased with my results. I had a few hurdles to overcome in my first year, but my second year was really fun. It was definitely worth all the hard work.”

Reading College and University Centre teaches a wide range of A Level subjects. These include Art and Design, Biology, Business, Chemistry, Classical Civilisation, Criminology, English Language and Literature, English Literature, Geography, History, Law, Maths, Philosophy and Religious Studies, Photography, Physics, Politics, Psychology, Sociology. Reading College and University Centre also offers Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) as an additional option.
