Learn more about the Guild of Bricklayers competition
The Guild of Bricklayers is a charity that has championed the craft of student brickwork since 1932.
Students were competing in the London regional heat to win a place in the Guild of Bricklayers‘ national final.
Competitors were split into two categories, Juniors and Seniors. Each of the competitors were given a brief and a set of drawings and were asked to build a model as per the drawing.
The building model featured decorative brickwork including projections and recesses. The junior competitors were given five hours to construct their model and the seniors were given six. Competitors were marked on their level of accuracy, dimensions, safety and cleanliness.
Congratulations to two learners from Lee Marley Academy, Paolo Puglisi, who was awarded Junior winner and Dominic Lawerence, who was awarded the Senior winner.
We were delighted that two learners from Reading College and University Centre came third, Jake Abram (Senior category) and Riley Mason (Junior category).
Thanks to employers, sponsors and supporters
