Performing and Production Arts UAL Level 2 Diploma

This programme will allow you to join Reading Studio of Dramatic Art, which is a partnership with Reading’s professional theatre company: Reading Rep.

This course is the UAL Level 2 Award and Diploma in Performing and Production Arts.

If you are looking to get into drama school, work as a theatre professional, or go to university to study in the arts, then this is the course for you.

You won’t be learning in a classroom, you will be working as a professional company of artists and staging numerous productions open to the public. You will be taught by leading, industry experts, as well as highly-qualified academic staff, to ensure that you receive a fully-rounded experience and are prepared for life in the industry.

You will have the opportunity to participate in National Theatre Connections, which brings together some of the UK’s most exciting writers with the theatre-makers of tomorrow. You will have the opportunity to work closely with Reading Rep, Reading’s award-winning professional theatre company, and perform and work in their brand-new theatre.

This is much more than a qualification: this is an opportunity to train with a professional theatre company.

You will develop your practical skills in drama, dance and the whole production process from technical theatre to performance. You will also be encouraged to develop analytical skills and acquire a broad knowledge of the way the performing arts business works. You will have the opportunity to participate in group productions. In addition, you will be encouraged to develop creative skills and strong organisational capabilities. You will have an opportunity to re-take English or maths GCSE, where needed.

Students on this course will be helped to develop practical performance skills using voice and movement to communicate effectively to an audience. You will also learn the importance of team work and self-discipline and gain confidence in interacting with others. These skills can be used not just in the performing arts industry but in many other areas of work.

You will undertake practical assignments performed in class and in public, small and large group projects and workshops.
